About Transcend Therapy

At Transcend Therapy, we believe in Transcending beyond Therapy. We see therapy as a catalyst to change, as the start to transcending beyond your past and taking ownership of your future.

Here we believe that healing is not about erasing pain, but about learning to move through it with understanding, courage, clarity, and care.

Transcend Therapy is a Boston-based, Black woman–owned practice offering telehealth therapy for adults and couples across Massachusetts, with a focus on culturally affirming and trauma-informed care.

We honor the fullness of each person’s story—the joys, the struggles, the intersections of identity, culture, and lived experience.

Here, therapy is not just a space to vent—it is a space to gain insight, shift unhelpful ways of thinking, become more decisive, set firmer boundaries all while being seen, understood, and held. We believe growth comes when people are met with empathy, curiosity, and respect.

Whether you are exploring identity, healing from old wounds, or learning new ways to connect with yourself and others, we are committed to guiding you toward meaningful, sustainable change.

Commitment to Community Mental Health

Before establishing Transcend Therapy, I dedicated over a decade to nonprofit community mental health work in Boston, where I gained invaluable experience addressing the needs of marginalized populations. This work has profoundly shaped my approach to therapy, emphasizing compassion, resilience, and systemic advocacy.

I still work closely with women experiencing severe mental health challenges, offering trauma-informed care and holistic support through clinically leading and supporting shelters, fostering safe and dignified environments for those in crisis.

I am deeply involved in ensuring culturally sensitive care through addressing the unique challenges faced by minority populations, including housing instability, mental health barriers, and systemic inequities.

A Vision for Systemic Change

True change begins with understanding and dismantling systemic oppression. Through my work, I’ve sought to amplify the voices of those often unheard, advocating for equitable access to mental health services, housing and many other community resources.

Advocating for Policy Reform: Beyond direct service, I contribute to efforts aimed at reforming housing policies, increasing funding for shelters and mental health services, and ensuring vulnerable populations are treated with dignity and respect.

Collaborating for Impact: I currently partner with state agencies and community organizations to develop innovative, client-centered solutions.

This vision continues to guide my private practice, where I strive to not only provide exceptional care but also to contribute to a broader movement for equity and justice in mental health and housing services.

Education & Training

  • As a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW), I am qualified to offer professional mental health services independently. I provide therapy and counseling to help individuals and couples navigate life’s challenges, manage mental health conditions, and improve overall well-being. With a focus on compassionate and evidence-based approaches, I am dedicated to supporting you on your path to emotional and mental health.

  • I am a proud Howard Univeristy Alumna.

I received my Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Howard University.

Attending Howard University, a Historically Black College and University (HBCU), was a transformative experience that deeply shaped my personal and professional identity.

This foundation continues to inspire my work as a therapist, where I strive to create spaces that uplift and empower people of color, just as my HBCU experience did for me.

  • I received my Master of Social work from Simmons University, one of the first social work programs in the nation, emphasizing a strong foundation in social justice, clinical practice, and community engagement.

  • I have completed over 40 externship hours and 48 hours of Core Skills training in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT), a research-based approach designed to help couples improve their emotional connection and resolve conflicts. EFCT focuses on identifying and changing negative patterns of interaction, fostering secure emotional bonds, and enhancing relationship satisfaction.

What started as my passion for supporting others has grown into a practice that carries both heart and purpose. I’m deeply proud of the work we’ve done, and even more excited for the journey ahead.

What makes Transcend Therapy special is the care and intention behind it. We take the time to support individuals in moving from surviving to thriving though developing clarity, emotional regulation, and authentic living aligned with values that matter most to you.
